We came close to closing time, but they had everything we ordered except for collard greens. That was fine because everything was delicious. The ancestors would be pleased. We ordered the meatloaf, mac-n-cheese, and cabbage. Nothing was a disappointment. The mac-n-cheese was heavily seasoned, but you wouldn't know it by looking at it. The seasoning was good, tho. This is not a complaint. The meatloaf was so big it can easily feed 2.5 people. I gained 3 pounds just reading the menu.

Now this is what I’m talking about, Real Soulfood, the best restaurant in Ohio, “I said it”, Ohio....! Best food ever, Best service, Food so good, it will make you smack yo grandma.... For now on, “She Auntie Ella Mae” Me and my wife agreement was every two weeks, ain’t no more Sunday dinners in our house, “We at Auntie Ella Mae’s”....
First time here and the owner was friendly,personable, and nice. The place has a relax warm feel and very clean which is important. I had Catfish,Mac and cheese and greens. All was good and mac cheese superb so cheesy the way I like it. Support this black business she is on top of things.
The lady who answered the phone was so polite and friendly quickly reminded of talking to my favorite auntie. Thank you for the amazing food! Catfish, greens, black eyed peas, and dressing was to die for! Even the cornbread was great
This was my first time ordering and the food was absolutely delicious. I had fried wings,Mac & cheese and collard greens. Everything was cooked to perfection and well seasoned. This is now my favorite soul food restaurant in Cleveland and I will be coming back as a regular customer going forward! I want the same cook that worked today 2/9/25 to make sure it’s cooked exactly the same way lol.
My husband and I went on wednesday and then went back on friday, I had a catfish dinner with mac n cheese and greens also a side of baked beans, my husband had a perch dinner, I got my mom a porkchop dinner she said " girl this food is good". Everything was excellent, so flavorful and fresh. On friday my husband had the ribs and I had turkey chops, listen those ribs were everything no sauce needed, and the customer service is great her son is very respectful
Ella Mae's Soulfood is a welcome addition to University Heights. A clean, modern, eatery with warm, friendly staff, and tasty homestyle cuisine. I highly recommend the turkey chops which are breaded, juicy, and spectacular. The rice and gravy is warm, soft, and hearty. And the greens are just perfect. I am excited to return and try the beef dishes!
